Clogged Toilets

If your toilet won't flush normally, you can use a plunger to attempt to dislodge any debris that may be clogging the pipe. Simply press your plunger into place over the drainage hole and move it rapidly up and down. This should create suction over the drain opening and push the clog through. Repeat as necessary until the water drains.

Sink/Shower Clogs

If your sink or shower is draining slowly, there is likely hair or other small debris in the drain. You can buy drain cleaning tools at many hardware stores, which you may find useful in dislodging the clog. Please do not use caustic chemicals on the drain as these could damage your plumbing system.

If you lose power in your home...

Please contact your utility provider to troubleshoot the issue. There may be account problems that have led to a shutoff or local outages may be impacting your home.

If you don't have access to hot water, locate your water heater and check the settings on the tank. Does everything look accurate? If there is a pilot light for the unit, is it lit?

If you make any changes to the settings on the heater, wait at least 20 minutes before testing the water temperature in your home again. This will give the heater time to function.

If your heat or air conditioning isn't working as usual, use the central thermostat in your home to troubleshoot the problem. Verify the HVAC system is on and all settings are accurate. You may be able to cycle the system off and back to restore the defaults.
